What does the Bible says about Mount zion?

Here are some verses about the Temple of the Lord that might deepen your understanding of Mount Zion.

The Bible declares that Mount Zion is the place where the God of Israel has established his earthly Temple, it's His dwelling place on earth.

  • Psalm 74:2 "Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, The tribe of Your inheritance, which You have redeemed— This Mount Zion where You have dwelt."

  • Psalm 76:2 "In Salem also is His tabernacle, And His dwelling place in Zion."

  • Isaiah 8:18 "We are for signs and wonders in Israel From the LORD of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion."

Mount Zion is also the seat of the Lord's action in the history of mankind, for it is in this part of the world that He will establish His king, David.

  • Psalm 2:6 "I have installed My King on Zion, upon My holy mountain"

The Bible mentions that The Messiah comes from Mount Zion. Now, if the Real Mount Zion is the center of Africa, inevitably The Messiah would have walked on human soil as a man of black descent.

  • Romans 11:26 "And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will remove godlessness from Jacob."

Mount Zion represents the tribe of Judah.

  • Psalm 78:68 "But He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved."

The Bible teaches that in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah, it was prophesied that impenitent Jerusalem and Mount Zion would remain covered with forests and thickets, and also be the object of mockery until He establishes His king David on His holy mountain.

  • Jeremiah 26:18 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest."

  • Michah 3:12 "Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become ruins, and the temple’s mountain will be a high thicket."

  • Jeremiah 18:16 “To make their land desolate and a perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head.”

The Bible also teaches that Jerusalem will remain in ruins, deserted, uninhabited, and a den of jackals.

  • Jeremiah 44:2 “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘You have seen all the calamity that I have brought on Jerusalem and on all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are a desolation, and no one dwells in them.”

  • Jeremiah 10:22 “Behold, the noise of the report has come, And a great commotion out of the north country, To make the cities of Judah desolate, a den of jackals.”

  • Jeremiah 9:11 “I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a den of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.”

💡**Note that the jackal is an animal that lives in humid and open savannahs, swamps, bushes, mountains and dry grasslands. Its range extends from the west to the east of tropical and central Africa. A few species can be seen in north-east Africa, south-east Europe and around Burma. It is rarely found in the Middle East.

By contrast, according to the official narrative and the teachings of traditional Christianity, Mount Zion is a small hill just outside the walls of modern Jerusalem in what is now the State of Israel (see image below). An arid region with many drought conditions.

Is it logical to believe that the Lord will gather vast nations from all generations on this small dry hill? 🤔

  • Revelations 14:1 "Then I looked and saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His name and His Father’s name written on their foreheads."

  • Revelations 7:9 "After this I looked and saw a multitude too large to count, from every nation and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands."
