Divine Numbers

It is evident that YAHWEH has woven a mathematical design into His creation.

  • Isaiah 40:12 "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills with a balance?"

The Bible also mentions certain numbers that are strongly present and carry the emblem of divine royalty: the numbers 3, 5, 7 and 12. These numbers reflect YAHWEH's orderly character as well as his uniqueness, reliability, faithfulness, and power.

Although YAHWEH uses numbers in his language, we are prohibited from turning to fortune tellers who use numerology (a form of divination or idolatry), in order to find answers to our questions.

  • Zechariah 10:2 "For the teraphim speak words of naught, the diviners prophesy falsities, the dreamers lie and comfort with vanity."

Notice that Satan also uses these divine emblems with the purpose of creating confusion. If we have the honor of a king, then we ought to depend on God alone to help us discern the wisdom He wants to communicate.

  • Proverbs 25:2 "The glory of God is to hide things; the glory of kings is to search out things."
