The 33 Letters of Pontius Pilate
The following texts are part of a series of thirty-three short letters that Pilate is said to have written to his friend Seneca between the years 26 and 30. Although the editor presents them as authentic and a few Anglican scholars have supported their authenticity, the Catholic Church has largely rejected them on the grounds that they are merely imaginary sketches of Pilate’s experiences and state of mind during the early years of his governorship in Judea.
