THE GOSPEL OF SAINT THOMAS

The full version in Coptic (an Egyptian language derived from the Greek alphabet) of the Book of the Gospel According to Thomas, or Gospel of Saint Thomas, was discovered in Nag Hammadi, Egypt in 1945. Portions of Greek versions of the text have been found at Oxyrhynchus, Egypt in the late 1800s. The full text has been dated to around 340 AD, while some of the Greek fragments have been dated as far back as 140 AD. The manuscript dates from the middle of the 4th century, but the original may date from the beginning of the 2nd century; is not known to the general public and carries the hidden words that YESHUA HA MASHIACH said during his lifetime and which were transcribed by Didyma Judas Thomas. Despite its extreme importance as a form of archaic Christianity very different from conventional Gospels, the complete manuscript was not canonized in the biblical canon, but only a few words, because several scholars considered it to be Gnostic, namely of the doctrine of Gnosticism that suggests the existence of ELOHIM is a matter of intuition rather than of logic and reasoning.

In Logion 3 YESHUA HA MASHIACH said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you..."

In Logion 30 YESHUA HA MASHIACH said, "Where there are three people, God is there. And where there is one alone, I say that I am with him. Lift the stone and you will find me there. Split the piece of wood and I am there."

When you turn on the light you get rid of the darkness, when you teach you give the student a perspective. In the two logion above YESHUA tells us He is everywhere and you don't need to “connect” with Him through a priest or in a church. The Kingdom of God is not contained within walls of wood and stone, but is all around us. Wherever we look, we will find it. In a profound way these writings expose the corruption of religious institutions.

Interestingly, the film Stigmata (1999) speaks of a “lost gospel” of Thomas that the Vatican “suppressed” because it was afraid of its content. In one of the scene, a man approaches Priest Andrew Kiernan and tells him he wants to see Alameida. Then he talks about the most important Christian relic ever found - a first-century Aramaic scroll found near the Dead Sea Scroll Caves outside of Jerusalem. He then goes on to say it has been concluded that this is the gospel of YEHSUA HA MASCHIAC in his own words, in Aramaic. But there are factions in the Vatican who believe that the writings could destroy the authority of the modern church because these were YESHUA's words to his followers and his instructions on how to lead his church after his death.

Knowing that Hollywood has always given us the truth in a subliminal and hidden way, is there any truth to this?

Logion 1.

And Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "Whoever finds the meaning of these words will not die."

Logion 2.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "Whoever seeks should not cease seeking until he finds. And when he finds, he will be amazed. And] when he is amazed, he will be a king. And once he is a king, he will rest"

Logion 3.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "'If your «leaders» say to you, "Look! the Kingdom is in heaven ", then the birds of heaven will arrive first before you. If they say, "It is under the earth," then the fish of the sea will enter it, arriving first before you. But the Kingdom of Heaven is inside of you and outside. Whoever knows himself will find it. And when you know yourselves, you will understand that you are the children of the Living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you are impoverished and you are poverty."

Logion 4.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "The old man will not hesitate to ask a little child seven days old about the place of life, and he will live. For many who are first will be last, the last will be first, and they will become single people."

Logion 5.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "Understand what is in front of you, and what is hidden from you will be revealed to you. For there is nothing hidden that will not be manifested"

Logion 6.

His disciples questioned him and said, "How should we fast? How should we pray? How should we give alms? What diet should we observe?" Jesus said, "Do not tell lies and what you hate, do not do. For everything, when face] with truth, is brought to light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be manifested."

  • Hebrews 4:13 "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

Logion 7.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "Blessed is the lion that the person will eat, and the lion becomes man. And cursed is the person whom the lion eats, and the man becomes a lion."

Logion 8.

And he said, "The human being is like a wise fisherman who cast his net into the sea. He drew it up from the sea full of small fish. From among them he found a fine large fish. The wise fisherman cast all of the small fish back into the sea and chose the large fish without difficulty. Whoever has ears to hear should listen!"

Logion 9.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "Look! The sower went out. He filled his hand with seeds. He cast them. Some fell on the road. The birds came and gathered them up. Others fell on the rock and did not take root in the earth or put forth ears. And others fell among thorns. They choked the seeds and worms ate them. And others fell on the good earth, and it produced good fruit. It yielded sixty per measure and a hundred and twenty per measure."

  • Matthew 13:3-8, Mark 4:3-9. Luke 8:5-8

Logion 10.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "'I have cast fire upon the world. And look! I am guarding it until it blazes."

  • Luke 12:49 "I have come to ignite a fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!"

Logion 11.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away. And the dead are not alive, and the living will not die. In the days when you ate what is dead, you made it something living. When you are in the light, what will you become? On the day when you were one, you became two. When you are two, what will you become?"

Logion 12.

The disciples said to Yeshua Ha Mashiach, "We know that you are going to leave us. Who will be our leader? Jesus said to them, 'No matter where you came from, you should go to James the RIGHTEOUS ONE, for whose sake heaven and earth exist"

Logion 13.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said to his disciples, "Speculate about me. Tell me, who am I like?" Simon Peter said to him, "You are like a righteous angel." Matthew said to him, "You are like a sage, a temperate person." Thomas said to him, "Master, my mouth cannot attempt at all to say whom you are like." Yeshua said, "I am not your master. After you drank, you became intoxicated from the bubbling fount which I had measured out." And he took him and retreated. He told him three words. Then, when Thomas returned to his friends, they asked him, "What did Yeshua say to you?"  Thomas said to them, 'If I tell you one of the words which he told me, you will pick up stones and throw them at me. Then fire will come out of the stones and burn you up."

Logion 14.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said to them, "if you fast, you give birth in yourselves to sin. And if you pray, you will be condemned. And if you give alms, you will harm yourselves. When you enter any district and walk around the countryside, if they take you in, whatever they serve you, eat! The people among them who are sick, heal! For what goes into your mouth will not make you unclean, rather what comes out of your mouth. It is this which will make you unclean!"

  • Matthew 15:11 "It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”

Logion 15.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "When you see the one who was not born of woman, fall on your face and worship him. That one is your Father."

Logion 16.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "'Perhaps people think it is peace that I have come to cast upon the world. And they do not know it is division that I have come to cast upon the earth - fire, sword, war! For there will be five people in a house. There will be three people against two, and two against three, father against son, and son against father. And they will stand as celibate people.'."

  • Luke 12:51-53 "Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on, five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

Logion 17.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "I will give you what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no hand has touched, and (what) has not arisen in the human mind."

Logion 18.

The disciples said to Yeshua Ha Mashiach, "Tell us, how will our end come about?' Jesus said, "Have you discovered the beginning that you seek the end? Because where the beginning is, the end will be also. Whoever will stand in the beginning is blessed. This person will know the end, yet will not die."

Logion 19.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "'Whoever existed before being born is blessed. If you become my disciples and listen to my teachings, these stones will support you. For you, there are five trees in Paradise. They do not change, summer and winter, and their leaves do not fall. Whoever knows them will not die."

Logion 20.

The disciples said to Yeshua Ha Mashiach, "Tell us, what is the Kingdom of Heaven like?" He said to them, "It is like a mustard seed, smaller than all seeds. But when it falls on cultivated soil, it puts forth a large branch and becomes a shelter for birds of the sky."

  • Matthew 13:31-32 "He put before them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man planted in his field. Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches."

Logion 21.

Mary said to Yeshua Ha Mashiach, "Who are your disciples like ?" He said, "They are like little children sojourning in a field that is not theirs. When the owners of the field come, they will say, "Leave our field!" In front of them, they strip naked in order to abandon it, returning their field to them. For this reason I say, if the owner of a house knows that a thief is coming, he will keep watch before he arrives. He will not allow him to break into his house, part of his estate, to steal his furnishings. You, then, keep watch against the world. Arm yourselves with great strength so that the robbers do not find a way to come to you, because the possessions you are looking after, they will find. There ought to be a wise person among you! When the grain ripened, he came quickly with his sickle in his hand. He harvested it. Whoever has hears to hear should listen!"

Logion 22.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach saw infants being suckled. He said to his disciples, "These little ones nursing are like those who enter the Kingdom." They said to him, "Will we enter the Kingdom as little babies?" Yeshua said to them, "When you make the two One, and when you make the inside like the outside, and the outside like the inside, and the above like the below. And when you make the male and the female into a One being, with the result that the male is not male nor the female female. When you make One eye in place of eyes, and One hand in place of hands, and Onee foot in place of feet, and One image in place of images, then you will enter the Kingdom."

Logion 23.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "I will select you, one from a thousand, and two from ten thousand. And they will stand as single people"

Logion 24.

His disciples said, "Teach us about the place where you are, because we must seek it."  He said to them, "Whoever has ears should listen! There is light inside a person of light. And it lights up the whole world. If it does not shine, it is dark."

Logion 25.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "Love your brother like your soul. Watch over him like the pupil of your eye."

Logion 26.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "The twig in your brother's eye, you see. But the beam in your eye, you do not see! When you remove the beam from your eye then you will see clearly to remove the twig in your brother's eye."

  • Matthew 7:3-5 "Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye?. Hypocrite! First cast out the beam from your eye, and then you will see clearly to cast out the splinter from the eye of your brother."

Logion 27.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "If you do not fast from the world, you will not find the Kingdom. If you do not observe the Sabbath day as a Sabbath, you will not see the Father."

Logion 28.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "I stood in the midst of the world and I appeared to them in flesh. I found all of them drunk. I found none of them thirsty. And my soul suffered in pain for human beings because they are blind in their hearts and they do not see. For they, empty, came into the world. And they, empty, seek to leave the world. For the moment, they are drunk. When they shake off their wine, then they will repent."

Logion 29.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "If the flesh existed for the sake of the Spirit, it would be a miracle. If the Spirit existed for the sake of the body, it would be a miracle of miracles! Nevertheless, I marvel at how this great wealth settled in this poverty."

Logion 30.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said, "Where there are three people, God is there. And where there is one alone, I say that I am with him. Lift the stone and you will find me there. Split the piece of wood and I am there."

Logion 31.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "A prophet is not received hospitably in his own village. A doctor does not heal the people who know him."

  • Luke 4:23-24 "Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! Do here in Your hometown what we have heard that You did in Capernaum.’ Then He added, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown."

Logion 32.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "A city built on a high mountain and fortified cannot fall nor be hidden."

Logion 33.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "What you hear in your ears, preach from your rooftops. For no one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel basket, nor puts it in a hidden place. Rather the person sets it on a lampstand so that everyone who enters and leaves will see its light."

  • Luke 11:33 "No one lights a lamp and puts it in a cellar or under a basket. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light."

  • Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

  • Luke 8:16 No one lights a lamp and covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light."

Logion 34.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "It is not possible for someone to enter the strong man's house and take it forcibly without binding his hands. Then the person will loot his house"

Logion 36.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "Do not be anxious from morning until evening and from evening until morning, neither about your food and what you will eat, nor about your clothing and what you will wear. You are far better than the lilies which neither card nor spin. As for you, when you have no garment, what will you put on? Who might add to your stature? He will give you your garment."

  • Matthew 6:25-26 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Logion 37.

His disciples said, "When will you appear to us? When will we see you?" Jesus said: "When you strip naked without shame, take your garments, put them under your feet like little children, and trample on them. Then you will see the Son of the Living One and you will not be afraid."

Logion 38.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "The words that I am speaking to you, often you have longed to hear them. And you have no other person from whom to hear them. There will be days when you will seek me, but will not find me."

Logion 39.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "The Pharisees and the scribes have taken the keys of knowledge. They have hidden them. Neither have they entered nor have they permitted those people who want to enter to do so. You, however, be as prudent as serpents and as guileless as doves."

  • Matthew 10:16 "Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves."

Logion 40.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "A grapevine has been planted apart from the Father's planting. Since it is not strong, it will be plucked up by its roots, and it will perish."

Logion 41.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "Whoever has something in his hand will be given more. And whoever has nothing, even the little that this person has will be taken away."

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "Be passers-by."

Logion 43.

Logion 44.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach Said: "Whoever blasphemes against the Father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the Son will be forgiven. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, neither on earth nor in heaven."

  • Luke 12:10 "And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven."

Logion 45.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "'Grapes are not harvested from thorn trees, nor are figs picked from thistles, for they do not produce fruit. A good person brings forth good from his treasury. A bad person brings forth evil from his wicked treasury in his heart, and he speaks evil. For from the excessiveness of the heart, he brings forth evil."

Logion 46.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "'From Adam to John the Baptist, no one among those born of women is more exalted than John the Baptist that the person's gaze should not be deferent. Yet I have said, "Whoever from among you will become a child, this person will know the Kingdom and he will be more exalted than John."

Logion 47.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "It is impossible for a person to mount two horses and to bend two bows. Also it is impossible for a servant to serve two masters, or he will honour the one and insult the other. No one drinks aged wine and immediately wants to drink unaged wine. Also, imaged wine is not put into old wineskins so that they may burst. Nor is aged wine put into a new wineskin so that it may spoil. An old patch is not sewn onto a new garment because a tear would result."

  • Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money"

  • Matthew 9:17 "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear will result."

If they say to you, "Is it you?", say "We are its children, and we are the chosen people of the living Father." If they ask you: "What is the sign of your Father in you?", say to them: "It is movement and rest."

Logion 51.

Logion 53.

Logion 57.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "The Kingdom of the Father is like a man who had [good] seed. His enemy came at night. He added darnel to the good seed. The man did not let them pull out the darnel. He explained to them, "In case you go to pull out the darnel, but pull out the wheat with it. For on the day of the harvest, the darnel will be discernible, and will be pulled up and burned."

Logion 58.

They said to him: "He is binding the lamb so that he may slaughter it and eat it." He said to them: "While it is alive, he will not eat it. Rather, he will eat the lamb after he has slaughtered it and it is carcass." 5 They said: "He is not permitted to do it any other way." These were the things he was thinking in his heart. But that very night, he died. Whoever has ears should listen!"

Logion 64.

Yeshua Ha Mashiach said: "A man had guests. When he had prepared the dinner, he sent his servant to invite the guests. He went to the first person. He said to him: "My master invites you." He said: "I have some payments for some merchants. They are coming to me this evening. I must go and give them instructions. I decline the dinner." He went to another person. The people you find, bring them to dine." Buyers and merchants will not enter the places of my Father."

He sent his servant so that the farmers would give him the produce of the vineyard. They seized his servant. They beat him, a little more and they would have killed him. The servant returned and he told his master. The master said, 'Perhaps they did not recognize him.' He sent another servant. The farmers beat that one too. Then the master sent his son. He said, 'Perhaps they will be ashamed in front of my son.' Those farmers, since they knew that he was the heir of the vineyard, seized him and killed him. Whoever has ears should listen."
