The Number 3

Biblical Meaning of the Number 3

The Number 3

The number 3, which represents completeness or completion, is also an immutable element to the nature of YAHWEH.

The Bible mentions 3 immutable things about God: He is spirit, He is invisible, He is immortal.

The 3 attributes of the Lord: Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent. The Father is the inaccessible and omnipresent light, He is the thought behind the Creation. The Son is the word made flesh, and the Holy Spirit is the act that makes it real.

  • 1 Timothy 6:16 "who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen."

  • 1 John 5:7-8 "For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement."

  • Matthew 28:19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

The 3 is also an unchanging number in many aspects of YAHWEH's creation

► The essence of the human being: Body, soul, and spirit

► The water that comes from the Father can only take three forms: liquid, solid, or gas.

► The only suitable places for the habitation of all that has been created: The sky above, the earth, the sea below

► All solid matter is made up of atoms built entirely from 3 particles: proton, neutron, and electron. These particles can only carry 3 types of charges: positive charges like protons, negative charges like electrons and neutral charges like neutrons.

The number 3 is also strongly present in the Bible:
