Jesus Temptation

Why was Jesus tempted?

Jesus Temptation

Due to the fact that YESHUA was fully human: a triune being (body, spirit and soul), Satan was allowed to tempt him on all 3 fronts.

  • The first temptation was that of the flesh, asking him to turn stones into bread to satisfy his hunger.

  • The second temptation was that of the spirit, to challenge the divinity of YESHUA by asking him to prove the provision of YAHWEH.

  • The third temptation was that of the soul in offering YESHUA to sell his soul for material goods.

The symbolism of the temptation of YESHUA is part of the divine plan to teach us 3 things:

1. ELOHIM does not have the inner vulnerability to give in to temptation and His Word triumphs over Satan

  • James 1:13 "For God cannot be tempted by evil"

2. To show us that we are fully able to resist the devil's temptations

  • 1 Peter 5:9 "Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering."

  • James 4:7 "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

3. To reassure us that He understands our tribulations, our challenges, and He is able to help us when we are faced with temptation because He himself has gone through temptation and suffering.

  • Hebrews 4:15 "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin."

  • Hebrews 2:18 "Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.."

May the Holy Spirit guide you through the understanding of this message.
